The Seahawks are back at CenturyLink for Sunday Night Football to play the Colts of Indianapolis. Seattle needs a win. The Colts are just here so they don’t get fined. Who will win and why?

I think the Seahawks need a win, don’t you, fellow 12? Starting the year with a third loss would not be a good thing. The Colts will be without quarterback Andrew Luck again. Seattle remains relatively healthy. The Seahawks will win for several reasons.

First, I think the team comes out with renewed focus on the small things that win football games. The defensive line will stay in their gaps. Russell Wilson will stop throwing consistently high in the first half of games. Kick overage will be better. This does not mean that the Seahawks players are not focused on playing football generally. I just think today Seattle excels at the basics.

Secondly, I think the Seahawks offense will mix the run in with the pass better on each drive. On drives against the Tennessee Titans last week in the second half, Seattle learned that it cannot just throw all the time or try to force the run every down. Instead of Seattle starting off with one run followed by five passes, I think the Seahawks first drive will be pass, then run, then two passes, then two runs. Something like that.

Lastly, Seattle is just a better team than the Colts and playing at home. CenturyLink is at least a seven-point edge in this game.

Final score: Seattle 30 Indianapolis 13
