The Seahawks play the Atlanta Falcons on Monday. Usually Seattle does not lose prime-time games. But this week might be different because of injuries to Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor. Here is who the 12th Man Rising staff thinks wins.

At some point, 12s will get a glimpse of the Legion of Boom 2.0. But this is happening much sooner than anticipated. I realize the Falcons have an explosive offense, whose passing game can light up the stat sheet. One thing to remember: their Super Bowl run was with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, now head coach for San Francisco, not former UW head coach Steve Sarkisian. On a national stage, defensive  end Frank Clark displays the greatness of the pass rush, while free safety Earl Thomas shows why he is the best safety in the league. Potential for a shootout at Centurylink, Seattle prevails for an always magical Monday Night in the Pacific Northwest.

Facing Matt Ryan and Julio Jones without Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor is a scary thought. The good news is Earl Thomas is back and will pick up some of the slack. But if the Seahawks are going to win Monday Night, Russell Wilson will have to be fantastic. I’m holding out hope for just that. I’ve got the Seahawks in this one.

First, it’s insulting this is even a question. Seahawks are large deadly raptors, easily twice as powerful as mere Falcons. While Falcons may be faster and make some long flights initially, Seahawks have more stamina. The Wilsonii and Thomasae subspecies are particularly voracious. They will overpower the weaker birds of prey and ultimately consume them. This metaphor should be ignored when playing Philadelphia.

Prediction: Seahawks 31 Falcons 27

I wish I could be as positive as the rest of the staff. First of all, though, I am a big jinx and always have been when it comes to picking Seattle. Secondly, however, I think Seattle without Sherman and Chancellor is just too much to overcome against Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and company. The Falcons have won three of the last four against Seattle, even when Sherman played.
