If the Seattle Seahawks season were a movie, it would be Old Yeller. The Rams just put him down, and every 12 knows how Tommy Kirk felt.

If you don’t get the reference, well, that’s why we have Google. As far as I know, no member of the Seahawks has rabies. But that’s about the only thing that hasn’t happened to them this season. It’s hard to beat a good team when you’re missing two future Hall of Famers, two All-Pros, and another four or five starters.

That being said, the Rams simply beat the Seahawks in all phases today. No sour grapes, no excuses. I fully expected Mike Davis to make the difference in this game. Had the right position, just the wrong team. I did also predict Todd Gurley would go for 170 combined yards. I am not happy that I was very close on that call.

Briefly, Seattle couldn’t get their ground game going. Davis had all of six carries for 19 yards before the Seahawks went into pass only mode. They went into pass-only mode because the Rams were ahead 13-0 in the first quarter. By halftime, it was an even uglier 34-0 Los Angeles lead.

Gurley dominated the Seahawks

While Davis had a game to forget, Gurley had a game to remember. 152 yards rushing and three touchdowns is a game, friends. He added another 28 yards receiving and another touchdown. Here is some game footage of the carnage he wrought:

When it’s this bad, you have to find some way to laugh or you’ll never stop crying.

Jared Goff certainly didn’t have a spectacular game, but then, he didn’t need to. He threw for 120 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked twice, once by Dion Jordan and another by Frank Clark. Clark even pulled off another strip-sack, but this time the ball went the Rams way, as did the entire game.

Aaron Donald was too much for Seahawks offensive line this time

Russell Wilson looked off-target for much of the night. That tends to happen when you’re sacked seven times. Yes, seven. Aaron Donald had three of those sacks, and Robert Quinn two. So much for the revamped Seattle offensive line.

While Wilson has looked like the best player in the league for most of the season, he wasn’t that guy today. He was only 14-30 with 142 yards and one touchdown. At least he didn’t throw any picks. I suppose if you want to put a positive spin on it, DangeRuss did account for 82 percent of the Seahawks yards tonight. So he still has that whole “I’m the whole offense” thing going for him. Not that he or anyone else wants that.

In the end, injuries don’t matter. Only the final score does. The Seahawks still have a path to the playoffs, but it’s a tough one. They need help to get in now, and that’s never a good position to be in. Considering how they’ve played without those star players I mentioned back at the beginning, a long playoff run isn’t in the offing anyway.
