The Seahawks suffered an atrocious loss on Sunday to the Rams. The defeat wasn’t altogether surprising. But the blow out was. Still, Seattle can make the playoffs. Here’s how.

The Seahawks seem to be running out of gas, don’t they? Still this is the same team that defeated the Philadelphia Eagles two weeks ago. Sure, they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road. That’s excusable. The Jaguars are really good. On Sunday, Seattle got beat in a way they haven’t in years. And they can still make the playoffs. They just need a little help.

The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Seahawks earlier this year. This means Atlanta has the upper hand in a tiebreaker with Seattle. But Seattle could still overcome Atlanta with two Falcons losses. Atlanta has three games left with NFC South foes, one each with the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. The Saints and Panthers will both be motivated to beat Atlanta as neither is assured of a playoff spot. Atlanta plays at Tampa Bay on Monday. Then they travel to New orleans before getting Carolina at home. Two losses for Atlanta is not out of the question.

The Detroit Lions need just one loss for Seattle to have a better record than Detroit (if Seattle wins its last two). Detroit plays the Cincinnati Bengals this coming week, but then has to face Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in the final week of the year. A loss to the Packers is definitely within reason.

Finally, the Dallas Cowboys need another loss. Seattle plays them on Sunday. The Seahawks have to win their last two games, so a win over the Cowboys would eliminate Dallas.

Of course, Seattle cannot stop the run of late and Dallas gets Ezekiel Elliott back this week. Just saying…

So, if Dallas and Detroit lose one more game each and the Falcons lose two of three while the Seahawks win their last two will mean Seattle makes the playoffs. Seattle just needs to play better than they did on Sunday. Much better.
