Brian Blades. 25. player. 36. . WR. (1988-98)

The heir apparent to Steve Largent’s throne as the Seahawks’ lead receiver, Brian Blades could never quite fill his predecessor’s shoes. With that said, he didn’t do too shabby considering he was following in the footsteps of one of the greatest receivers to ever grace the gridiron.

Realistically, Blades more than held his own as the next star pass catcher for Seattle. When he had finally hung up his cleats after 11 seasons, he was second in nearly every receiving category — behind Largent, of course. When compared to just about any other Seahawks receiver, Blades was a sensation.

Unfortunately, it just wasn’t ever quite enough. Throughout his 11-year career, he managed only one Pro Bowl selection. Although he cracked the 1,000-yard receiving mark on four separate occasions, his single-season high was only 1,086. Today, that’s good for only 11th on the Seahawks’ all-time list.

With all of that said, I must give credit where it’s due. Blades was an impact receiver for the Seahawks for over a decade, helping to fill the void left by a legendary offensive weapon. For that, he finds himself at No. 25 on the list of the greatest players in Seattle history.
