How do the Lions make the playoffs?

12th Man: The NFC North is a tough division. What chances do the Lions have of making the postseason and why?

SM: The Lions were certainly not favored coming into the season as every team in their division seemed to be much improved. But sitting here in Week Eight, the NFC North is essentially tied. And every team still has a legitimate chance to win the divisional crown and lock down a spot in the playoffs. I think for Detroit, their worst day is behind them.

After a rocky start, the Lions are starting to come together under the guise of first-year head coach Matt Patricia. And the recent trade for Harrison could be the addition that puts them over the top. With a quality quarterback under center, arguably the most complete wide receiver corps in the league, a much improved running game and an offensive line stocked with talent – the Lions offense should be considered dangerous.

Now, throw in a defense learning a Super Bowl-proven scheme and I believe Detroit has just as good of a chance of making the postseason as any of their NFC North rivals.

Next. Seahawks new owner could be...who?. dark

SM: Both teams are 3-3, but I like the Lions’ quality of opponents in their victories better than the Seahawks’. Plus, this game is in Detroit. So it’s hard not to favor the team who gets to sleep in their own beds before the game. I’ll take an improving Lions team over the Seahawks coming off a bye, 27-20.
