The Kerryon Johnson impact

12th Man: How big of a boost has Kerryon Johnson been now that Matthew Stafford finally has a productive running back?

SM: It’s the difference between having a running game and not having one. It’s night and day. In fact, I think it took this passing offense some time to get used to having a legit rushing attack. They are accustomed to passing the ball on first, second and third downs. I’m not sure they were prepared for the impact that Johnson and LeGarrette Blount would have and how much it can relieve the pressure on their passing game. I believe the offense is now settling in on being more balanced and that should translate to better performances moving forward.

Two Lions who might have big impacts on Sunday’s game

12th Man: Name one Detroit offensive player and one defensive player who might not be as well known to the casual fan but might have big impacts on Sunday’s Seahawks game.

SM: On offense, wide receiver Kenny Golladay, This second-year wideout has been an absolute stud this season. Playing like a number one wide receiver, Golladay has racked up 29 receptions for 465 yards and three touchdowns in six games playing behind starters Golden Tate and Marvin Jones.

On defense, linebacker Devon Kennard. The Lions top free agent acquisition this offseason, Kennard has been a revelation this year as a pass rusher. He leads the team in sacks with 5.0 and has thrived as a play-maker in this Matt Patricia-led defensive scheme.
