Seahawks week 10 mid-week injury report is not a happy thing
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks might have difficulty beating the Rams in week 10 even if healthy. But Seattle is not healthy going into Sunday’s game.
The Seahawks mid-week injury report is a place of sadness. That sadness belongs to all 12s, including me. The Rams are coming off of their first loss and will be motivated. Seattle is just trying to stay alive for the playoffs. But Seattle could be missing key players this week.
Six Seahawks were held out of practice on Wednesday. Some of these players, like Doug Baldwin, most likely did not participate just to rest. But three players that have been a boon to any Seattle success this year missed practice and could miss the game.
Chris Carson has a hip issue he is dealing with. Carson left the Chargers game this past Sunday midway through the second quarter and did not return. Without Carson, Seattle’s physicality suffers. If he cannot play on Sunday, Seattle might rely more of Russell Wilson throwing the ball and that might be a mistake.
Safety Bradley McDougald has played at a Pro Bowl level in 2018. He missed nearly all of the second half against the Chargers with a knee problem. Delano Hill played decently in place of McDougald. But there should be no mistake that McDougald’s presence and experience is important and Seattle would suffer against the Rams should he not be able to go.
Guard D.J. Fluker suffered a calf injury against the Chargers. Fluker missed the first two games of the season when Seattle was terrible running the ball. He is one massive reason the Seahawks season has gotten to 4-4 and somewhat exceeded expectations. Fluker was excellent against Ndamukong Suh in the first game between Seattle and Los Angeles this season.
Carson, McDougald and Fluker all missed practice on Wednesday. All could miss the game Sunday against the Rams. Seattle is already a 10-point underdog to the Rams. Without McDougald, Carson and Fluker, there is little hope that the Seahawks could pull off the upset.
