The Seahawks have a very thin line as far as making the playoffs. They now face two games in five days. Keep players out based on the best chances to win.

The Seahawks have injury issues. Three major contributors to what success Seattle has had in 2018 might miss Sunday’s game against the Rams. Chris Carson, D.J. Fluker and Bradley McDougald could all miss the game versus Los Angeles. Seattle is 4-4 and the Rams are 8-1. The Seahawks will have trouble winning on Sunday even if healthy.

But Seattle is still struggling mightily to make the playoffs in 2018. Is there a chance to make the postseason? Little. Is there a chance Seattle can reach the Super Bowl? The chances are extremely small.

Seattle is currently going through a tough five game stretch where they need to go 3-2 to have a realistic opportunity to make the playoffs. So far, Seattle has beaten the Lions and lost to the Chargers. The Seahawks have the Rams, the Packers and the Panthers left to play before the schedule eases up just a bit.

The toughest part – at least physically – of Seattle’s schedule might be playing the Rams on November 11th and then playing the Packers on November 15th. That means just three days where Seattle is not playing a game. That is tough even under the best of situations.

But Carson, Fluker and McDougald are all iffy versus the Rams this Sunday. Seattle could lose to Los Angeles even if all three play. But the Seahawks must win one of the games between Los Angeles and Green Bay to really have a shot at the postseason.

Theoretically, any NFL team has a better chance of winning at home than on the road. Seattle plays away on Sunday and at home on Thursday. Green Bay isn’t as good a team as Los Angeles. The Packers could beat the Seahawks as easily as the Rams could. But football is a game of chances.

And Seattle needs to play the chances. so the Seahawks should choose not to play Carson, Fluker and McDougald in hopes they will be healthier on Thursday. Seattle will have a better chance of beating the Packers than the Rams. And Seattle should hold out players with nagging injuries based on their chances to win.
