Pete Carroll loved his early Christmas gift from Mike McCarthy
The Seahawks had to fight hard to beat the Packers, but they did get a little help from a very surprising source. Pete Carroll is very grateful.
The Seattle Seahawks had to play their finest 15 minutes of the season to overtake the Green Bay Packers. The other 45 were just a bit erratic. Chris Carson started off with a fumble. Russell Wilson overthrew receivers so often you had to assume our quarterback thought Manute Bol was on the roster. A fourth string tight end beat the Hawks defense for a 54 yard bomb, on his first career reception. Pete Carroll was snapping his gum so fast I’m surprised SWAT wasn’t called in.
Yet in the end, all was well in Seattle. Carson shrugged off the miscue and steamrolled the Pack all night. Wilson turned into DangeRuss and sliced the Packers with a surgeon’s touch. And the defense, which earlier had no answer for the great Aaron Rodgers, wound up with five sacks and made several key stops.

Despite the Seahawks heroics, I can’t help but feel there was something else in play here. A higher power, if you will. And if any cheeseheads snuck in here, no, I’m not talking about the referees. Tyler Lockett made a spectacular catch. Here you go, revel in the glory of this catch. The refs initially got the key David Moore catch wrong, so whatever, Packers fan. At least Pete Carroll was smart enough to challenge a call he didn’t like.
