The Seahawks are a slight favorite in week 14 against the Vikings. But only because of home-field advantage which means Vegas has little faith in Seattle.

Seattle is favored to defeat Minnesota on Monday night football in week 14, according to Odds Shark. Both the Seahawks and the Vikings are fighting for a playoff spot. Seattle might need the game more as winning their division is completely unattainable. Minnesota could still win their division, though.

What this means is that Seattle has only one way of getting to the playoffs: A wildcard spot. The Vikings could have two ways: A wildcard spot or winning their division. Because of this, hopefully the Seahawks will come out even more motivated than do the Vikings. And at least the game is at CenturyLink Field.

That the game is a home one for Seattle is why oddsmakers think Seattle will most likely win. But this doesn’t mean the people setting the betting lines assume Seattle is the better team. Odds Shark’s analysis of the game does say that the Vikings are the worst rushing team in the NFL on the road, though.

Also, Minnesota has given up 130 yards per game against the rush the last three weeks. This is a good trend for the Seahawks. Prior to the last few weeks, Minnesota has been stout against opposing ball carriers.

Seattle will want to run the ball with Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. Even though the spread is just 3 points right now, if Seattle can control the ball on the ground they could win a low-scoring but very Pete Carroll-y affair. Let’s hope that happens and Seattle moves to 8-5.
