As we continue to countdown 100 days until the first Seahawks game of 2019, we look at the player who wore number 94 the best in Seattle: Chad Brown.

Seahawks fans, there are 94 days to go until Seattle kicks off its first game of 2019 at home against the Bengals. The best player to wear jersey 95 wasn’t really determined yet. Seattle has not had a lot of players be successful with that number. But jersey 94 is different because Chad Brown was really good.

Brown did not begin or end his career with the Seahawks. His first four seasons were spent with the Steelers and in the year before Brown came to Seattle he was picked as a First-Team All-Pro linebacker for Pittsburgh. Brown finished the final three seasons with other teams.

But in the seasons between 1997 and 2004 Brown played with Seattle. And most of those seasons he was near-Pro Bowl quality. Signed before the 1997 season to both be a pass rusher and tackle running backs, Brown did not disappoint.

Think of a slightly less productive version of Bobby Wagner and that is what Brown was. Four times in his eight Seattle seasons Brown collected more than 100 tackles. In 1998, Brown had 149 tackles and 7.5 sacks and was again named First-Team All-Pro. Twice with Seattle Brown made the Pro Bowl and should have several other seasons.

During Brown’s time in Seattle he had 48 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 13 fumble recoveries of which he ran three back for touchdowns. Brown was injured a bit his last three years with the Seahawks and this hurt his production. He left Seattle the year before Seattle went to its first Super Bowl.

Current Seahawk

The player who currently wears number 94 for Seattle is Rasheem Green. Green is in his second season and will counted on as a pass rusher. Maybe Green will play well enough and long enough in Seattle to overtake Brown as the Seahawks’ best number 94 ever. That would be a great thing.
