Tuesday marked the first day of mandatory minicamp for the Seahawks. Here is some of the news fit to read from day one of Seattle’s camp.

The Seahawks began their three day mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. This means Seattle can practice a little harder but not hit each other. This is probably best as Seattle can afford no contact injuries to key players.

Here are some players who were dealing with being banged up on Tuesday along with some other news of the day.

Injuries

Several players were held out to injury, most of them just for precaution. Recent signee and defensive end Ziggy Ansah was help out with a shoulder issue. Ansah might be held out all of the preseason too. His important lies in being healthy to play during the season and not in games that don’t matter.

Marquise Blair is dealing with a hamstring issue and has yet to partake in any practices since being drafted this year. For a veteran, this might not be a big deal. But for a rookie, missing reps can really hinder his growth. Blair will be needed by the Seahawks this year, so hopefully he is able to get on the field soon.

Mike Iupati turned his foot funny and he had to leave practice. Pete Carroll said the issue is nothing to worry about and hopefully this is the case. Iupati hasn’t been the healthiest player the last two years and Seattle is relying on him to be a big part of the offensive line.

Other news

Mychal Kendricks was dealing with a pec issue but the news about him is more important in the fact that Carroll seems to think Kendricks will be good to play for Seattle in 2019. Kendricks is still supposed to be sentenced for insider trading but Carroll seems to think Kendricks won’t serve jail time. Or as Carroll stated on Tuesday, “We do expect (Kendricks) to be on the team this year.” This is great news.
