Pete Carroll had a press conference on day one of training camp and he updated some Seahawks injury issues. There is some good news and some bad.

Week one of the regular season for the Seahawks is just over a month away. Seattle is already dealing with some injury issues, but mostly the news is good. On the first day of 2019 training camp, coach Pete Carroll gave an update on some key players who are nicked up currently.

The good news

Chris Carson, thankfully, was ready to practice on Thursday. He had some minor knee surgery abd it must have been minor. Carson will be ready to go week one, according to Carroll.

The same goes for Bradley McDougald. Though McDougald had patellar tendon surgery after last season, he seems to be ready to play. He took part in practice on Thursday. This is great news as McDougald has become the leader in the secondary.

Edge rusher Ziggy Ansah did not start training camp on the PUP list and this means he should be ready to play week one. The Seahawks need all the pass rushing help they can get now that Jarran Reed has been suspended.

Rookie safety Marquise Blair appears to be mending well from a hamstring injury. He started training camp on the PUP list, but Carroll said he hopes to have Blair practicing in a few days.

The bad

Rookie guard and future starter Phil Haynes had sports hernia surgery four weeks ago and is slowly working his way back. Carroll said there is no rush for Haynes. Thankfully, Seattle has D.J. Fluker and Mike Iupati set at guard now and do not need Haynes to start. It appears Haynes might be out for some time to start his NFL career.

C.J. Prosise set out the first day of training camp with the flu. Something always seems amiss with Prosise, whether it is injury or sickness. He misses so much time. Prosise has a lot of athletic ability but I am beginning to think we will never see it for long stretches in Seattle.
