Seahawks 53-man roster projection prior to preseason game one
By Lee Vowell
Who will make the Seattle Seahawks 2019 roster? Here is a guess post-Jarran Reed suspension and before preseason game one.
What Seahawks fans will see in the preseason in 2019 will be a misnomer. So, 12s, take this into account when you think about who should make this year’s roster and who should not. Remember, for instance, how good Rasheem Green and Shaquem Griffin were for most of last year’s exhibition games and then how good they were when the real games began?
Basically, take what nearly any unproven player does with a grain of salt because what you see might not be reality. This is partly what goes into my latest 53-man Seattle roster projection for this coming season. I am going to try to be logical and not emotionally involved. For instance, Troymaine Pope was a great story in 2017, but he was not an effective regular season running back.
There are some real roster battles for Seattle in 2019. The running back group is loaded with raw talent but the Seahawks have to get the group down to four tailbacks and one fullback. This is going to be a tough cut so some solid players have to go.
The same could be said of the linebacker unit. We know that Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright and Mychal Kendricks are going to make the team, but what about after that. There are so many talented linebackers on the 90-man team right now but some of them have to go.
Another thing is who will replace defensive tackle Jarran Reed for the first six weeks of the NFL season? Reed was suspended for those games for a domestic assault issue. The answer to who replaces Reed and more is just part of my 53-man roster projection prior to preseason game one.
