We asked on Twitter which member of the Seahawks 12s want to watch against the Vikings besides D.K. Metcalf. Marquise Blair was an overwhelming answer.

The question on Twitter was easy. I asked which guy on the Seahawks are 12s looking forward to most to watching against the Vikings on Sunday besides a certain rookie receiver? There were a lot of responses. Without D.K. Metcalf being an option the field was open. But Marquise Blair was the clear answer.

There are a lot of reasons for 12s wanting Blair to be really good. There is the obvious reminder of Kam Chancellor. Blair plays free safety, though, like Earl Thomas. So there is the reference to Thomas too. The fact is, 12s want to believe in the Seahawks the same way they did in 2013 and 2014 when Seattle made the Super Bowl.

Blair, even with him being a rookie and needing to learn to not take chances in coverage, brings hope. He hits hard. Blair is good in coverage. But his mentality is much more Chancellor and Thomas-like than anyone Seattle has had on the roster who has played significant time most of the last year and a half. That is what 12s remember as a big reason for the Legion of Boom and for good reason.

The LOB wasn’t just great in the fact that they could cover the field. They could. But the big reason they were as important as they were is that they put fear in opposing receivers. Blair has that potential too. Pair him with Bradley McDougald and at Blair and McDougald’s best they could help overcome a lack of success with the cornerbacks.

This is clearly what 12s want to see. They want a safety who can intimidate opponents.

Next. 3 things to watch for Seahawks versus Vikings. dark

Blair will have his flaws. He has already missed assignments in coverage and takes chances on getting hits on quarterbacks when he shouldn’t. But if Blair can use his raw ability and learn what it is to be an NFL safety, he will be great. And Blair could help lead Seattle back to the Super Bowl sooner rather than later.
