Seahawks injury updates after Vikings preseason game
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks lost an ugly preseason game on Sunday. Worse, though, is some player who might have an impact in 2019 got a bit banged up.
Before I got into who got injured and who didn’t play because of injury for the Seahawks on Sunday against the Vikings in preseason game two, I will should first say I am thankful that Russell Wilson nor Bobby Wagner are included among these players. Still, Seattle is beginning to feel the pinch of guys getting hurt.
D.K. Metcalf missed the game completely and coach Pete Carroll said he had suffered a knee injury. Carroll did say that Metcalf should be back soon, possibly by week one of the regular season. But any practice reps missed by rookies will stunt their growth.
Carroll said about Metcalf after Sunday’s game, “The docs really have a clear look at the MRI already, what it is, and it’s a really quick recovery.”
Marquise Blair had to be taken off during the game because of back spasms. It looked much worse when watching the game. And though back spasms are not fun, hopefully this means Blair won’t be out long-term.
Paxton Lynch, who is battling for his football life, did not look nearly as good in game 2 as in game 1. Worse, he left the field after being hit in the head by Vikings cornerback Holton Hill. Hill was ejected for the hit. Lynch will now have to go through concussion protocol before being allowed to play more this preseason.
Finally, undrafted rookie free agent and offensive lineman Demetrius Knox hurt his leg and will probably be out for quite some time. Carroll said Knox suffered a quad injury that is involved with the knee area. Those are words a guy trying to make an NFL team never wants to hear.
