Week one is about to kick off for the Seahawks. Health is always a concern so who is in and who is out week one?

The Seahawks are a relatively healthy bunch. All their key players should be ready to go against the Bengals on Sunday. Three players are most likely out week one, however. On Friday, Seattle gave an update as far as who participated in practice and who did not.

Out!

Joey Hunt missed practice with an ankle injury. Hunt is a fairly valuable backup at center behind Justin Britt and will probably be a great coach one day. But he is not a reason the Seahawks would ever win or lose a football game. If he cannot go on Sunday and Britt were injured, likely Ethan Pocic would slide in to Britt’s spot.

Receiver David Moore likely won’t return for a few weeks from a broken arm. His being out on Friday is not a surprise. He hopefully will be a key contributor in 2019 but in his absence the young kids, like D.K. Metcalf, will just have to step up more quickly.

L.J. Collier was also out and unlikely to play against the Bengals. Seattle’s first round draft pick has been dealing with a high ankle sprain. Thankfully, with the addition of Jadeveon Clowney last week, Seattle’s isn’t desperate for pass rush help. If Collier misses the game, it isn’t the worst thing ever.

Maybes

Ziggy Ansah was listed as questionable on Friday but is expected to play week one. This will be the first time 12s have seen the offseason signee in real action. He needs to be good and solid but not great.

Another offseason acquisition, Mike Iupati, is less likely to play with a foot injury. My feeling is that Seattle signed Iupati for later in the year instead of early. The Seahawks will be just fine if Iupati can’t play. But ask me again in week three and I might give you a different answer.
