Seahawks grades from defeat of Steelers: Thank you Russell Wilson!

Defense
A bit f the opposite happened on defense with defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. compared to Brian Schottenheimer. I feel like Norton could have done more with pressure to rattle Steelers backup quarterback Mason Rudolph. But Rudolph had a lot of time to throw and build confidence, Overall, however, the defense played well.
Defensive line
The Seahawks only had one sack and two quarterback pressures, but the line seemed more focusing on containing the run. That said, they should have gotten more pressure on the quarterbacks. Maybe it will help when and if Ziggy Ansah ever returns. Still holding Pittsburgh to 81 rushing yards was good, especially considering 36 of them came on two runs.

Linebackers
Bobby Wagner, Mychal Kendricks and K.J. Wright continue to be all over the field. Wright made a weird hand tackle, literally. He tackled a Steeler simply by holding on to his hand. Kendricks did get called for pass interference, though, and that set up a Pittsburgh score. It was Kendricks’ second bad play in pass coverage in two weeks.

Secondary
The secondary was much better in week two. Even though the Steelers quarterback didn’t face a ton of pressure and Bradley McDougald got beat deep once, the unit allowed just a bit over 5 yards per pass. Shaquill Griffin continues to impress and Tre Flowers was better. McDougald did have a pick on a miffed catch and Lano Hill looked a lot better than Tedric Thompson did in week one.

Special teams
Michael Dickson averaged 51 yards a punt. Jason Myers missed his only field goal attempt but it was from 58 yards. Rashaad Penny was forced to return two short kickoffs, one of which took a strange bounce. The funny thing is that Seattle fixed that issue. Knowing the Steelers were intentionally kicking short, they put Tyler Lockett back deep in place of Penny and Pittsburgh stopped trying to kick short at that point.
