Jarran Reed

Oh, Mr. Jarran Reed. How we 12s have missed you. Have you seen what the Seahawks have been able to accomplish since you have been out due to suspension? Or really, what Seattle has not been able to do? No pass rush, sir. None that is consistent or good enough to win long-term. The team needs you, big fella. And needs you against the Ravens.

Seattle ranks 26th in sacks in the league with 10. I know, people like to say that despite the sacks the Seahawks are getting pressure. Talking about pressures is a cop out and something else to discuss when a team isn’t getting sacks. Sacks are better. They call an offense to lose a down and yards. Pressures don’t do that.

Reed had 10.5 sacks in 2018, the third interior defensive lineman in Seahawks history to get double-digit sacks. The most sacks anyone on the Seattle roster has this season is two. Mychal Kendricks, Rasheem Green and Quinton Jefferson have that. Jadeveon Clowney and Ziggy Ansah have one each.

Don’t blame Clowney too much, though. He has been double-teamed more than any other edge rusher in the NFL this season. Ansah does not have the same excuse. Plus, Ansah probably won’t play on Sunday.

But Reed returning should help open things for Clowney and others. Reed may not play as many snaps on Sunday in his forst game back as he will in say, week 14. But his presence should definitely help. The Seahawks will take any help with sacks they can right now.
