Three game-changing trade targets for the Seahawks
Seahawks need this Cincy center
Billy Price is the answer to the Seahawks sudden need for a starting center. I mentioned this possibility the other day when discussing a possible trade of Rashaad Penny. As I wrote, the NFL doesn’t exactly have an unlimited supply of starting centers. Price checks off two spots for the Hawks, which makes him an even more attractive trade target. He started at center last year for the Bengals and has played at guard this season.
So if he got beat out for the job we want him for, why trade for him at all, right? Price was injured this offseason and fell behind the Bengals current center, Trey Hopkins. Price started at center in all ten games he appeared in for 2018 and has four starts at guard this year. Again, he has the flexibility the Hawks love. This year, he’d play at center, Next year he could compete with Britt for the starting gig, or back up both at guard and center. Unlike the other potential players, Price is in his second year of a four-year deal. His utility would be a nice addition for the Hawks moving forward, especially as Britt will be a free agent after 2020.
Harris may be the only big name in my group, but all three players would fill huge needs for the Seahawks this year. None of the three should cost serious draft capital. Both Harris and Eifert will be free agents next year, so the Broncos and Bengals are likely to just try to get whatever they can for players they could lose next season anyway. As a first-round pick in his second season, Price may come at a steeper….cost. Just couldn’t go for the easy joke. But much like Rashaad Penny, he has yet to play like a first-rounder, so I expect the price will be reasonable. Ah, dang it, there it was!
