Seahawks Jadeveon Clowney gets awarded and Eagles game flexed
By Lee Vowell
Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney won an award on Tuesday. And Seattle’s future schedule was affected when the time for Eagles game week 12 changed.
Jadeveon Clowney is an absolute freak of a defensive end. Not only did the Seahawks know this before they stole him in a trade with the Texans prior to week one of the 2019 regular season but he has produced this season as well. Are his sack totals huge? No. But he has also been double-teamed more than any other edge rusher in the NFL.
That changed against the 49ers in week 10 and Clowney made San Francisco pay for it. It appears that the 49ers thought their tackles were good enough to block Clowney one on one. They weren’t. Clowney had 5 quarterback hits on Jimmy Garoppolo, had one sack and returned a fumble for a touchdown and seemingly was in the backfield on every San Francisco snap.
Because of his performance against the 49ers on Monday night, Clowney was awarded with the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Clowney winning the award isn’t the reason the Seahawks should re-sign Clowney. Seattle should re-sign him because he is worth every bit of the contract he will sign and make Seattle better for several years to come.
Seahawks game time change week 12
Because the Eagles are not the team people thought they would be so far in 2019, Seattle will be forced to play a 10 am PT game when they come back from their bye week in week 12. Oroginally the game was supposed to be a primetime Sunday Night Football game, but the NFL changed it because the Eagles stink.
I say this because Seattle is 8-2 and holding up their end of two potentially good teams playing each other. But that isn’t so. Seattle should beat the Eagles and move to 9-2 and the Eagles should fall to second in the NFC East and basically out of the playoffs.
