The Seahawks Cs

I am going to skip over the grade of D because that would mean a player has played a bit but has made mistakes that might have cost the Seahawks a game. There are simply no players in the D middle-ground. But there are several Cs and that is not a bad place for rookie to be. It means they could improve in future years and be players who contribute to the success of the team.

Ben Burr-Kirven

Burr-Kirven had like 1,284 tackles his last year in college. But he barely made the Seahawks and that is because Seattle has a loaded linebacker unit. Still, Burr-Kirven has been a decent special teams players and likes to hit people. He has 6 tackles so far and isn’t bad for a guy who doesn’t play defense yet.

Cody Barton

Barton, unlike Burr-Kirven, has gotten chances to play for Seattle on defense and has 5 tackles this year. He played a whole series against the Falcons when Seattle had a big lead in the second half. And Barton looked, well, lost. But he is rookie and not getting a lot of reps is difficult. I think he will be solid one day, if not exactly Bobby Wagner.

Travis Homer

Homer is another guy who has been good on special teams and Pete Carroll seems to trust. Homer was even back as a kicker returner as the end of the 49ers game after Tyler Lockett was injured. He didn’t return a kick but just the fact that Seattle thought he would securely catch the ball and capable of doing something with it says something.
