Grading each Seahawks rookie through the 2019 bye week

The one Seahawks A
D.K. Metcalf doesn’t make a lot of his catches look easy, but he looks strong when he does get his mitts on the ball. Running fluid routes and making it look like the ball is metal and his hands are a magnet might never be a strength of Metcalf, but he is still faster and stronger than your favorite teams’ cornerback.
Metcalf started the season a bit slowly trying to find his way. For a bit he was only catching about half of the targets Russell Wilson threw his way. But things have changed over the last couple of weeks and Metcalf has become a weapon.

In the last two games, Metcalf has caught 12 of 19 targets for 193 yards. His number of snaps has been over 70 in each game. Clearly Seattle is trusting that Metcalf is the best compliment to Tyler Lockett. For years he probably will be. And Metcalf should only get better the more he learns his route tree and trusts his ability.
The former part of that last bit is important. Seattle’s coaches have been raving about how Metcalf is bent on learning what it means to be an NFL receiver, shows up early and studies hard. 12s all know that Metcalf has the physical ability to be great but he also seems to have a productive mental attitude. Once he combines them, he could be an All-Pro.
Metcalf has 35 catches for 595 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns so far this season. Those numbers should go up quite a bit over the last 6 games. Metcalf is going to help Seattle win games for many years.
