The Seahawks play the Vikings in week 13 in a matchup of potential playoff teams. Here is what to look for in the game and how to watch it unfold.

The Seahawks are pretty good. So are the Vikings. If the season were to end today, both teams would make the postseason. Also, both teams have a chance to win their respective divisions. Minnesota is tied for the NFC North lead with the Packers while Seattle trails the 49ers by one loss.

Seattle and the Vikings both like to run the ball and both teams are led on offense by efficient quarterbacks. Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins currently leads the NFL in QBR (114.8) as far as passing and Seattle’s Russell Wilson is second (112.1). But in ESPN’s Total QBR, which incorporates all of a quarterback’s contributions to winning a game, Wilson is better than Cousins.

But the game might come down to which team runs the ball better. Minnesota’s Dalvin Cook is third in the NFL in rushing yards (1,017) and the Seahawks’ Chris Carson is 8th (879). Running the ball successfully means controlling the clock and whichever teams defense tires earlier might mean a victory for the other team.

Or maybe this game comes down to turnovers. Cook has lost two fumbles this season. Cousins has lost three and thrown three interceptions. Wilson is slightly better than Cousins in that he has thrown 3 interceptions too but lost two fumbles. The difference is Carson. He has fumbled either 7 or 9 times judging by how you keep count and lost 4 or 6 of them.

This is going to be a close game. A key turnover at the wrong time might get one of these teams defeated. A loss won’t end either teams’ season but it makes it a bit more difficult to get to the postseason.
