No. 2: Running back Marshawn Lynch

The Packers can get pressure on the quarterback and also have a good secondary. As good as Russell Wilson is, if he does not have time to throw the ball and Seattle is one dimensional, Seattle will lose. The Seahawks have to be able to run the ball against Green Bay and Marshawn Lynch needs to lead them.

Lynch has run against the Packers in just five games. He was successful in three of those games, but those years are a long time ago. The last time Lynch went up against Green Bay was in 2015. Lynch hasn’t played a lot of football in the last year and a half and he shouldn’t be expected to replace the numbers that Chris Carson might have produced.

But Seattle has to run the ball against a Green Bay defense that has been susceptible against rushing offenses this season.  The Packers ranked 23rd against the run in the regular season allowing 120.1 yards per game. If Seattle can get to that number, great. But I don’t expect them to.

Lynch needs to get enough yards and run with enough energy to make the team feel like they can use him to eat up clock in what should be a close game. If Lynch can get to 75 yards rushing, Seattle should be in a position to win in the end.
