The Seahawks have a quarterback named Russell Wilson

Before the first matchup between the Seahawks and the at-the-time-unbeaten 49ers last year, I asked a 49er reporter to give me the reasons San Francisco fans should be nervous about playing Seattle. His answer was simple, “I will give you three reasons: Russell Wilson, Russell Wilson and Russell Wilson.” Wilson led Seattle to a 27-24 victory and completed 70 percent of his passes and ran for 53 yards.

Wilson is going to be in the Hall of Fame one day but the great thing for 12s is that Wilson is still just 31 years old. As we have seen recently, NFL quarterbacks can be really good well into their late 30s.

In Seahawks franchise history, Wilson is first in passing yards (29,734), first in touchdown passes (227), first in quarterback rating 101.2 and that is also second all-time among all NFL quarterbacks), has the lowest interception percentage (1.8 percent) and the highest touchdown percentage (6.0 percent).

In 2020, Wilson could have his deepest receiving group and still be supported by a good running game with Chris Carson. If Wilson can stay healthy – and there is no reason to think he cannot as he has never missed a game in his 8-year career – then he might be able to lead Seattle to the Super Bowl. If he does, that will be Wilson’s third time to get to the championship but probably not his last.
