What Carlos Dunlap can bring to the Seahawks

Dunlap was taken in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft out of Florida. He possesses exceptional size and agility standing at 6’6”, 280lbs with 4.68 (40-yard dash) speed. Over the last 10 years he has amassed 81.5 sacks, 101 tackles for a loss, 223 quarterback hits and 20 forced fumbles.

He has been a beacon of consistency over the last 5 seasons amassed between 7.5 sacks to 13.5 sacks each year. The best part of Dunlap’s game would be his consistency not only on the field but with the ability to suit up for each game. Since 2013, Dunlap has only missed 3 total games out of 112 possible.

Last season Dunlap posted 9 sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, 21 QB hits with a pressure rate of 12.5%. His pressure rate was good enough to be in the top 15 in the NFL (minimum of 250 quarterback rushing attempts). He possesses superb awareness and batted down 6 passes last year.

Dunlap’s 2019 season was a great overall performance. It’s not just me that thinks that either. He actually ranked in the top 10 for defensive ends with an impressive grade of 89.7, per PFF. This is actually the best rating he has received since 2012.

I am in no way saying the other years were a disappointment, the lowest mark he has received is a 71.3 in 2013. This “low” grade would of still been good for 4th on the Seahawks defensive line last season. It does not appear he is slowing down despite approaching his age 31 season. If anything he is getting better, aging like fine wine.
