The Seahawks chose Jordyn Brooks with their first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. This was a bit of a surprise and fans reacted thusly on Twitter.

The Seahawks surprised in two ways during the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. One was that Seattle didn’t trade down and out of the first round. The second, and more importantly, was who Seattle chose: Jordyn Brooks. Brooks is a linebacker out of Texas Tech. But Seattle seemed to need edge rushers more than linebackers.

I gave Seattle choosing Brooks a grade of C. But how did 12s feel about this pick? Here is what fans thought via Twitter.

So Mr. Shrauger clearly and sarcastically and very Pacific Northwest-y felt like maybe Seattle needed something other than a linebacker. While the Seahawks don’t need a left tackle really, they probably could use offensive line help.

Mr. Gangle was a lot more direct by stating “bad pick.” Hopefully, this isn’t the case long-term, but it could be and that is the issue. Seattle seems to have taken a chance on a player who could have been taken later than the first round and didn’t fill a position of need.

Fletcher wondered aloud, possibly correctly, whether Bobby Wagner might be getting released. Brooks is actually a better fit for Wagner’s linebacker position than Wright’s. Plus, Brooks doesn’t appear to be great in pass coverage.

I will end this post with some good vibes. BigMo might hit on the right note here. We are not John Schneider and Pete Carroll and Schneider and Carroll have gotten the Seahawks to the playoffs nearly every season since they came to Seattle.

Next. Seahawks will need some Day 3 gems in 2020 NFL draft. dark

As BigMo says, maybe at first glance the pick of Brooks doesn’t seem good but then things tend to pan out. If 12s were Browns fans, they would have good reason to be cynical of choosing Brooks. But the Seahawks are good and seemed to know what they are doing. Let’s just hope our faith in Schneider and Carroll gets validated. Again.
