We have made it through the first two days of the 2020 NFL Draft. Where does the Seahawks draft class rank so far in the NFC West?

Through the first two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft there have been a bunch of surprises. The Eagles picking a quarterback with accuracy issues in the second round? Weird. But how are the Seahawks doing so far in comparison with their fellow NFC West brethren? Here is a quick ranking of how each team is doing.

4. Arizona Cardinals

Picks: Linebacker Isaiah Simmons (1st round) and tackle (Josh Jones)

Why 4th?: Let me first say I don’t think any of the teams in the division have had bad drafts, so far. One reason I have the Cardinals fourth here is that they have more needs than the other teams in the Seahawks’ NFC West but have only had two picks. I think Simmons is capable of being a very good player but the Cardinals have so many needs on defense that they probably should have taken someone who has a defined position. No one knows where Simmons is going to play. Jones is a very good tackle to get in round three, though.

3. San Francisco 49ers

Picks: Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (1st round, 14th overall) and receiver Brandon Aiyuk

Why 3rd?: San Francisco had two first round choices which is pretty great for a team that just made it to the Super Bowl. After the first round, however, the 49ers don’t have another choice until round 5. While the two players they have taken so far fit their system pretty well, I think Kinlaw needs to work at getting better pressure on the quarterback. Taking a run-stopper with the 14th pick isn’t ideal. I do like Aiyuk and he will be excellent in the 49ers offense.

2. Seattle Seahawks

Picks: Linebacker Jordyn Brooks (1st round), edge rusher Darrell Taylor (2nd round) and guard Damien Lewis (3rd round)

Why 2nd?: Call me dumb (or if you already think I am dumb then call me dumber) but I am beginning to like the Brooks pick more and more. I think my initial reaction was probably like a lot of other people who follow the Seahawks and think, “A linebacker over an edge rusher?” But I think Brooks will be good long-term and that is kind of the point of drafting players.

I also think Taylor is going to be really good. He has extreme athletic ability and speed and will get his sacks, don’t worry. As far as Lewis goes, Seattle might possibly have drafted their day 1 starter in 2020 and have him be an anchor for most of a decade.

1. Los Angeles Rams

Picks: Running back Cam Akers (2nd round), receiver Van Jefferson (2nd round), edge rusher Terrell Lewis (third round) and safety Terrell Burgess (third round)

Next. Seahawks will need to find some day three gems in the 2020 NFL Draft. dark

Why 1st?: As much as I dislike giving any Seahawks opponent their due, the Rams drafted for need, and even though didn’t have a first round selection, every one of the players they have taken might be very good. Akers is a great fit for Sean McVay’s offense. Lewis works perfectly for the Los Angeles defense and Burgess is probably a second round-worthy pick and he fell to the Rams in the third round.
