Seahawks 2020 schedule: Seattle’s toughest stretch of games
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks 2020 schedule was announced on Thursday. What will be Seattle’s toughest stretch of games this coming year? Likely these five.
The Seahawks 2020 schedule is a bit weird. On the surface, Seattle has a manageable slate of games. Of course, every season is different and expecting one team, like the Dolphins, to play the same way in 2020 that they did in 2019 would be a mistake. Still, most teams do not usually make a huge jump up or down the next season.
Based on this, the last half of the Seahawks season is conducive to Seattle having another good year. The problem comes in the middle of the season. Seattle’s toughest stretch of games comes between weeks 8 and 12.
Week 8 versus the 49ers at CenturyLink
Seattle battled the 49ers for the NFC West division crown until literally the last inch of the 2019 season. The 49ers won and then went to the Super Bowl where they almost won except for the magic of Patrick Mahomes. Week 8 will be the first of two regular season matchups between possibly the two favorites in the division. This game could have a huge bearing on who wins the division in 2020.
Week 9 in Buffalo against the Bills in a 10 am PT start
The Bills made the playoffs last year and have a very good defense. They might have some quarterback issues, but they have also upgraded their receiving corps this offseason. Buffalo is projected by many to win the AFC East this season and will be looking to prove themselves against the nearly perennial playoff-bound Seahawks.
Week 10 in Los Angeles versus the Rams
The Rams always match up well against the Seahawks. In fact, when Seattle beat Los Angeles at home in 2019 it took one of the best, if not the best, plays of the season with a touchdown pass from Russell Wilson to Tyler Lockett. Los Angeles might have a lot of moving parts but they also have a good coach who runs a great offensive scheme and Aaron Donald.
Week 11 versus the Cardinals at CenturyLink
On paper, the Seahawks should beat Arizona. The Cardinals are improving but still, Seattle has the better roster. But has that stopped the Cardinals from somehow beating Seattle in Seattle for the last 6,392 seasons? No. And in 2019 the Seahawks played one of their worst games against anybody in years when Arizona won in week 16 at CenturyLink 27-13.
Week 12 in Philadelphia versus the Eagles
Seattle beat the Eagles in the playoffs last year but Philadelphia was down to picking people out of the stands to play receiver. Assuming Philadelphia is healthier this time, Russell Wilson will need to be great to beat Carson Wentz once again. Or Jalen Hurts. Or whoever is playing quarterback for the Eagles in week 11.
