San Francisco 49ers: TE George Kittle

Let’s be honest — the 49ers’ roster is loaded. There were so many players I considered here.

Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead were both intriguing options, but I already addressed the defensive line with Jones and Donald. The thought of bringing back a revitalized Richard Sherman also received serious consideration, but it felt too painful for all involved. Maybe upgrade the offensive line with Trent Williams or Mike McGlinchey? Very tempting, but…

I ended up going with George Kittle because why not?!

Much like Donald, Kittle is the best in the business at his position. He’s nearly unguardable at tight end, offering a premier package of athleticism, instincts, route-running skills and swagger that helps him deliver time and time again on Sundays. To top it off, he’s an excellent blocker, something I’m sure Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, Carlos Hyde, etc. would appreciate.

More importantly, it’s about continuing to surround Wilson with dangerous weapons. The Seahawks already have a potentially devastating wide receiver duo in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett this season, but that’s about it. While Greg Olsen should be productive, he’s past his prime and doesn’t offer much long-term potential. Kittle would take this passing game to the moon.

Kittle is young (26), still hasn’t hit the peak of his NFL career, and is the complete package at tight end. His next contract is going to be crippling, but that’s not my concern in this hypothetical.

Wilson throwing to Metcalf, Lockett and Kittle while Carson pounds the defense into submission? Count me in.
