Green Bay Packers: CB Jaire Alexander

So many options to choose from with the Packers.

David Bakhtiari caught my attention, but the Seahawks already have Duane Brown and both have been career left tackles. Davante Adams was also an option, but it almost seemed like overkill at a single position. I had almost decided on Kenny Clark but didn’t think upgrading at nose tackle was quite as important as adding talent at cornerback.

Hence, I went with Jaire Alexander.

I know that he’s not what you’d consider an elite cornerback. Heck, he’s heading into only his third NFL season and has yet to earn a significant award or honor for his efforts. While some might see those items as reason for concern, I believe adding him to the Seattle defense would be a huge opportunity.

First and foremost, it gives the Seahawks another reliable starter at cornerback across from Shaquill Griffin. Especially with the uncertainty surrounding Quinton Dunbar and his current off-field issues, Seattle could use another capable starter on the outside. Furthermore, Alexander is an aggressive tone-setter — something this defense could use more of moving forward.

Long gone are the days of the Legion of Boom. No longer can the Seahawks depend on their defensive backs to get them through the toughest of matchups. Adding Alexander won’t get them back to that level of dominance, but he’d be a huge step in the right direction.
