So maybe this list of most important Seahawks comes down to the two most obvious ones. But this is how Seattle has both been built recently and how the team has transformed since the 2012 NFL draft. This was the year that Seattle chose linebacker Bobby Wagner and quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wagner is so great that at times he seemed to be a tad slower in 2019 than he was in previous seasons. And yet, if one looks at his numbers they will see that Wagner had 159 combined tackles, which led the NFL and was the second-highest total of his most likely Hall of Fame career.

Wagner also had three sacks which was one off the Seahawks team-lead last year.

Last season, Wagner was named First-Team All-Pro for the fourth straight season and fifth time in his career. He has missed bu two games combined in the last five years. He is Seattle’s best defensive player and is a future Hall of Famer.

But Wagner will also be tasked with helping young linebackers Cody Barton and 2020 first-round pick Jordyn Brooks learn how to be very productive NFL players. One day Barton or Brooks might step in as a full-time starter to replace Wagner, but until that day comes Wagner will be the leader of Seattle’s defense.
