Jamal Adams wants to retire with the Seahawks
By Geoff Shull
Jamal Adams had his first press conference with the Seahawks media on Thursday. To say he is a happy man would be an understatement.
Jamal Adams is beyond excited to be with the Seahawks. Watching his press conference (which you can watch here) he is just smiling ear to ear. He knows he landed in the perfect place. Between the players, coaches and organization as a whole, Adams knows he was the true winner of the trade.
"“I knew Seattle was the perfect organization for me. I just couldn’t come out and say it.”"
When the media asked about playing for Seattle, he specifically mentioned playing with Bobby Wagner as an exciting proposition for him. He thinks having a defense with both Wagner and himself is a ‘cheat code.’ He specifically noted meeting Wagner at a Jordan Brand dinner and that he is one hell of a leader.
After the trade was finalized, Adams said he spent hours studying the Seahawks tape. Specifically the home crowd noise, and the legion of boom. He said the level of energy, love and passion they played with really helped inspire him. The Legion of Boom was all about winning. That is what Adams wants to bring to Seattle as well.
In Adams’s first meeting with Coach Carroll, he said that Carroll just wants him to feel comfortable being himself. Adams relented he wants to be coached in certain ways. He wants to be pushed. He wants to learn. He wants to achieve the perfection of his craft.
Fortunately, Seattle has a whole system to siphon off knowledge from. Between the coaching staff and the veteran players. The Seahawks team has been there, they’ve done that. Fortunately for him, Coach Carroll is one of the most underrated defensive back guru’s in the NFL.
I will leave you with this quote when he was asked about his future with the Seahawks:
“My plan is to retire here.”
Jamal Adams was traded the Seattle Seahawks for two first-round picks and a third-round pick. The team gave up an absolute haul to acquire the star defensive back. They traded for him hoping he won’t just be a difference-maker but a key to getting back to the Super Bowl. He has all the talent to be just that. For now, I just cant wait to see him get on the field. Form his press conference, it appears the feeling is mutual.
