The Seahawks need pass rush help in 2020. Everson Griffen is now off the table. But other players are not.

The Seahawks are reportedly still in the market for a defensive end. With Everson Griffen signing with the Cowboys, the question now becomes who should Seattle target. That might come down to Jadeveon Clowney or Clay Matthews.

The Seahawks have been underwhelming in terms of talent brought in for the defensive line this off-season. The team signed Bruce Irvin and Benson Mayowa to beef up the LEO spot and add much-needed speed. They also drafted a pair of LEO’s in Darrell Taylor and Alton Robinson.

Taylor reminds me a lot of Frank Clark. His bend, burst, explosiveness are all elite. However, he is still working his way back from a surgery he had before the draft. It is quite possible he won’t be much of a factor in his rookie year.

On the opposite side, they have yet to bring any talent. This could be because they feel confident in the duo of Rasheem Green and LJ Collier at the 5-tech. Or it could be simply because they held out so long for Jadeveon Clowney that they didn’t add any additional veterans.

Regardless, the two names the Seahawks are currently connected to are Clay Matthews and Jadeveon Clowney. Both play different spots on the defensive line. Both have pros and cons. Let’s take a dive into each player, what a contract could look like and how they would fit into the defense.
