Seahawks have 2 sacks and both by linebackers

Rejoice, 12s! Seattle will get to Matt Ryan twice in week one. However, both of those sacks will come on stunts and blitzes with the linebackers getting both. Bruce Irvin will get one and so will Bobby Wagner. But the defensive line? Nothing.

The defensive line, and even L.J. Colier will have its moments. Those moments will be just enough to entice 12s into thinking 2020 will be different and better for defensive line quarterback pressure than it was in 2019. It won’t, especially early on. Collier might even get a quarterback hit, but his first NFL sack won’t happen until week four.

Jarran Reed will also get a quarterback hit and Rasheem Green too but that’s it. Ryan will have time to throw the ball and Seattle will cover well. But the Falcons offensive plays will go long and Ryan will at times have several seconds to throw the ball.

Ryan will throw for 380 yards but Seattle will make him work the ball down the field with no big plays. The secondary won’t allow that. But the defensive line won’t help the secondary much in week one. The rest of the season, I think there will be some improvement in the pass rush, but not against the Falcons.
