Seattle Seahawks: 5 takeaways from win versus Cowboys
By Jake Luppino
Rookie DE, Alton Robinson, will be a playmaker on this defensive line
Yesterday, the 5th round pick out of Syracuse, Alton Robinson, made his debut. All throughout training camp, the Seahawks were raving about Robinson and the potential threat he was going to bring to this defensive line. Yesterday, he proved the Seahawks right by having a nice season debut.
The Seahawks pass rush is the weakness of this team as they have been unable to cause pressure on opposing quarterbacks. When they are able to force the quarterback into a bad throw or get a sack, it is mainly coming from S Jamal Adams. After the injury to Bruce Irvin, most thought the defensive line would get worse. I saw it as an opportunity for a young player to step up and shine in their opportunity at making it on this team.
Alton Robinson did a nice job in both the run and pass game yesterday. Robinson got his first sack of his career in the 4th quarter on a drive in which the Cowboys were marching down the field to take the lead. On second down, Alton Robinson threw the offensive linemen off him in pursuit of Prescott. He got into the backfield, brought Prescott down and forced the Cowboys to call their final timeout. On the ensuing play, Robinson once again caused some havoc freeing up another DE to get pressure on Dak. Dak escaped and threw it into the end zone, which was intercepted by DE Ryan Neal.
For the first time this season, the defensive line received an A- grade from me. Robinson played a huge part in that as he shined in his debut.
