Seahawks will not have Jamal Adams versus Dolphins but will have Chris Carson
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks have ruled out Jamal Adams for week four but Chris Carson will play.
On Friday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on his show on Seattle radio that Jamal Adams will not play week four against the Miami Dolphins due to a groin injury he suffered when Seattle beat the Cowboys in week three. Running back Chris Carson was hurt (intentionally it appeared) in the same game but his knee seems OK and he will play on Sunday.
The Seahawks safety group is getting really thin, however. Lano Hill didn’t participate in practice on Thursday and is unlikely to play in week four. This would likely mean that rookie Ryan Neal is the starter in place of Adams. He would play next to Quandre Diggs. This is definitely a position to keep an eye on as the Dolphins are probably going to find ways to exploit Neal’s inexperience.
Seattle might simply need to outscore the Dolphins. Of course, fortunately, Russell Wilson should have all of his skill position players available since Carson is good to go. Even if Carson is limited, Wilson will have Carlos Hyde and all of his receivers.
Defense hurting
Since there seem to be many potential subtractions from the defense, like Adams and Hill and Quinton Dunbar is also expected to be out, Seattle will once again need Wilson and company to be near-perfect. Giving up 30 points or more to the Dolphins would not be a good thing normally, but with the Seahawks injuries, it would not be unexpected.
Another issue would be if Quandre Diggs or Ryan Neal were hurt during the game, Ugo Amadi would need to step back to safety leaving the nickelback position without any proven talent. The worst-case scenario is if anyone gets injured in the secondary in week four.
