Three impressions from Seahawks week four victory over Dolphins

David Moore can really play
Before and during training camp, I honestly didn’t know why David Moore would make the Seahawks roster. In past seasons, he had had a few good games and a lot of games where he simply disappeared. Why Seattle would keep him around when they had other options, I didn’t know.
So far in 2020, Moore’s performance has shown once again why I am not a football coach. He’s been really good both on deep routes and returning punts. Moore has caught 10 of his 11 targets this season, including two touchdowns. He is averaging 17.3 yards a catch, his career average. Moore has returned three punts for an average of 11.7 yards a return. Good numbers.
On Sunday, Moore may have made the catch that was the turning point in the game. Miami had cut Seattle’s lead to 10-9 with a bit over 20 seconds left in the first half. The Seahawks had the ball on their own 36-yard line, Moore went deep down the left sideline, the Dolphins blew a coverage and Russell Wilson moved to his left and threw downfield to Moore. Moore made the catch while having to spin to his right, stayed inbounds and then picked up about 10 more yards.
In the fourth quarter, Moore made a leaping catch in the right corner of the end zone to bump Seattle’s lead to 24-15 and things felt safer. Moore has been a good player on the 2020 team and deserves his roster spot.
