Russell Wilson isn’t perfect though we expect him to be

Russell Wilson has been so good for so long for the Seahawks that his mistakes get magnified. And Wilson has been even unbelievable in 2020, setting an NFL record for touchdown passes thrown through the first three games. He has already been named NFC offensive player of the week twice this season.

Wilson was still good on Sunday versus the Dolphins but he also threw a bad interception, attempted to force the ball to D.K. Metcalf in the end zone, throwing the ball late and it was fairly easily intercepted by Miami’s Xavier Howard.

The pick occurred on Seattle’s opening drive of the second half with the team leading 17-9. While a touchdown would not have basically ended the game (this is the Seahawks after all, where almost every game is close at the end), Seattle would have had a seemingly comfortable lead. The Dolphins then churned out a drive that resulted in a field goal to make the score 17-12.

My point in all this is that while Wilson made a bad throw, every quarterback does at some point. How much does it say about Seattle’s quarterback in that he had probably his worst game of the season on Sunday but still was 24 of 34 for 360 yards with two touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 112.4? Seattle is lucky to have Wilson as the team’s quarterback.
