The Seattle Seahawks are now 5-0 for the first time in franchise history.

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 27-26, in a thrilling game on Sunday Night Football. It seems that every time the Seahawks play on Sunday Night Football, the game comes right down to the wire. This was their second primetime game of the year on Sunday Night Football. The first, came against the Patriots in which the Seahawks defense made the game-saving stop at the 2-yard line with 0 seconds left in regulation. The second, came last night when Wilson threw the game-winning touchdown to DK Metcalf with 15 seconds left to pick up the win over the Vikings.

As always, I examine 5 takeaways from the Seahawks win as they are off to the best start in franchise history.

The Seahawks were opportunistic last night

Last night, things were not looking good for Seahawks fans. The Seahawks had their worst first half of the season, being held scoreless. Between the penalties, poor offensive line play and the inability to stop the run, it was spelling disaster. But, Coach Carroll’s defenses are known to be opportunistic. Heading into last night’s game, the Seahawks were averaging nearly 37 points per game and were held to 0 at the half. But, as a Seahawk fan, I know — as all Hawks fans know — the game is never over until it is over.

The Seahawks were very reminiscent of last year’s Seattle team, where we pinned ourselves against the wall and asked Russ to bail us out. But, it was the defense that created the spark that ignited a fire on the Seahawks sideline. In the second half, the Seattle defense forced two fumbles and one interception. They also made one of the biggest plays of the game, in stopping Alexander Mattison on 4th and inches right after the two-minute warning.

An interesting stat brought up by Warren Sharp during last night’s game.

The Seahawks were able to snap that streak last night by creating turnovers and through, the brilliance of Russell Wilson. The game Sunday truthfully epitomizes what it’s like to be a Seahawks fan. Up – down – up – down – heart attack – Wilson makes a couple of crazy plays – game over.

The Minnesota Vikings deserve a lot of credit for the way they played last night. They made plays on both sides of the ball and battled back after losing all the momentum by allowing 21 points in under 6 minutes in the third quarter.

But, the Seahawks were opportunistic and stole this game. The Vikings nearly doubled the Seahawks in time of possession and total plays and still fell short. The Seahawks did what championship teams do: find a way to win.
