Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals: Players to watch for
By Reuben Gasee
Players to keep an eye out for during Week 7
The time with family for Seattle Seahawks players and coaches is over as they return from their bye week to face the Arizona Cardinals on the road. When they get back on the field, the results will show if the bye week helped or not.
The early Week 6 bye week could help the team rest up which is crucial for a player like Jamal Adams who’s been nursing a groin injury and has missed time. It could also hurt the momentum of the team as prior to the bye week, they were on a roll, playing top-notch football while staying undefeated.
When they return to the field in week 7, they will look to stay undefeated against the Cardinals who are on a roll themselves as they dethroned the Dallas Cowboys 38-10 and have scored 30+ points for two weeks straight.
Here is who to keep an eye out for, on both the Seahawks and Cardinals on Sunday.
Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray has been a huge key to the Cardinals success this season. He’s done it all by throwing the ball deep down the field and using his speed to get by defenders on the ground when he decides to run the ball himself.
For the Seahawks to win the game, they will have to stop Murray. He is the key to the Cardinals offense and if they can slow him down, it slows down the rest of the team.
Seahawks Secondary
The secondary defense for the Seahawks could be heading into Sunday shorthanded. While they’ve only had one practice this week so far, Adams has yet to be seen on the field as he nurses a groin injury. He hasn’t played since Week 2 against the New England Patriots and if he needs to miss another game, Ryan Neal will have to be the starter for the fourth consecutive contest. Adams is currently considered questionable for Sunday’s game.
Quinton Dunbar is also considered questionable for Sunday’s game as he’s dealing with a knee injury. He did play in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings and while he was held out of practice, he is expected to play. It should be noted though that Dunbar didn’t play in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys or Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins. While he is expected to play, in the case that he’s unable to suit up, Tre Flowers will have to start.
Even if Dunbar does play, he may not be 100%. The same goes for Adams. That would leave Shaquill Griffin and Quandre Diggs as the only starting secondary players that are fully healthy.
The secondary will be needed to step up against the Cardinals as Murray has a star wideout in DeAndre Hopkins and good complementary wide receivers that are capable of putting up a big game. Murray also likes to throw the ball deep down the field making it all more important for the secondary to play tight defense.
