The Seattle Seahawks suffer first defeat of the season in thrilling overtime loss in Week 7.

Well, our perfect season has come to a halt. The Seattle Seahawks lost in overtime, 37-34, to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. Watching this game, it felt reminiscent of when the last time the Seahawks took the field of play. In Week 5, against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football, the Seahawks won a game that they should have lost. In Week 7, they lost a game they should have won. Ironically, the Cardinals closed out the game in Seahawk fashion. Down 10 late in the 4th, Kyler Murray led two scoring drives that forced overtime and got the job done in overtime. Kyler Murray played the role of Russell Wilson and the Seahawks finally paid the price of living on the edge.

While Seahawks Twitter is known for being a bit dramatic, not all is lost. It is just one game and the Seahawks have a great opportunity of bouncing back next week against divisional rival, San Francisco 49ers.

As always, here are 5 takeaways from the Week 7 defeat.

The Seahawks are once again bit by the injury bug

Last year, many can argue that what derailed the Seahawks playoff run were the injuries they sustained late in the season. In fact, many were happy that the Seahawks had an early bye week as they were already dealing with some injuries to key players. Most notably, All-Pro safety Jamal Adams has missed 3 straight games after absolutely dominating in the first three in which he played.

In last night’s game, the Seahawks once again sustained injuries to some key players.

Last year, Carson was one of the players who got injured late in the year and had to miss the playoff run. This year, after the win over the Cowboys in which Carson got hurt, he noted that he made a promise to himself he would play in all 16 games. While he has played in all 7 thus far, he missed significant time in last night’s game after hurting his foot. Speculation around Seattle is that the injury is not serious, which is good news for the time being.

One of Carson’s running mates, Travis Homer, also suffered an injury last night. Reports are that he suffered a knee contusion and the Seahawks are awaiting the MRI results to see how serious the injury is.

Seahawks number one cornerback, Shaquill Griffin suffered a concussion last night that forced him to miss the majority of the 2nd half. His presence was missed, especially late in the game, as the Cardinals came down the field twice to score. On the bright side, after the game, Coach Carroll commented on Griffin, stating that he seemed to be in good shape.

Next week, the Seahawks are presented with another tall task. Hopefully, some of our key players will be good to go. I would also like to see Damion Harrison make his debut with this team.
