The Russ to D.K. connection is back

I’ve been saying it all year long and I will say it again, D.K. Metcalf is fearless. He truly does not care who is lined up opposite of him. He has a strong belief in himself and truthfully, you can’t blame him. You just don’t see wideouts like him in the NFL anymore. The combination of size, speed and strength is just uncanny. After a rough couple of weeks, the Seahawks focused on getting him the ball last night.

Russ looked for D.K. Metcalf early and often last night, even with Darius Slay Jr. guarding him for the majority of the game. There were multiple plays last night that epitomize what kind of player Metcalf is going to be in this league, but I will just touch upon two of them.

DK Metcalf took it personally, and BreakingT made a t-shirt. Shop here.

The first, coming on the first offensive possession. The Seahawks put together a nice drive making it all the way down to the goal line before failing on 4th down. One reason as to why they were able to get to the goal line was unnecessary roughness penalties on the Eagles. Both targeting D.K. Metcalf. The first came on a rush block between D.K. Metcalf and Darius Slay Jr. that led to extra circular after the play. After that, D.K. lined up, took his mouthpiece out and was jawing at Slay, daring him to press him. The next penalty came on a cheap shot by Eagles DT Malik Jackson. The point being D.K. doesn’t back down from anybody. In fact, he embraces it and uses it to his advantage.

The second play that was very impressive came in the fourth quarter as the Seahawks were looking to put this ball game away. After catching, a post route, D.K. went to the sidelines for a couple of plays as it looked as if he banged up his knee. Anyways, he came back in and made a great catch.

Now, D.K. did drop a touchdown later in this drive, but he played a great game recording 10 catches for 177 yards. Metcalf might have had some added motivation in this one, which he touched upon after the game.

This just touches upon the chip that D.K. plays with. It was cool to see him have some fun with it after the game. Especially, a game in which he balled out.
