MVP of the Month – Carlos Dunlap

Prior to the trade deadline, the Seattle Seahawks traded with the Cincinnati Bengals for Pro Bowl DE Carlos Dunlap. Due to the COVID-19 protocols, Dunlap couldn’t make his Seahawk debut until their matchup with the Bills. All year long the Seattle defense had been receiving heat as they are perceived to be the weakness of this team.

People keep harping on the past and the Legion of Boom era that haunted the NFL for years. But, we have to accept reality. This team is no longer the Legion of Boom. They are Russell Wilson’s team, and rightfully so, might I add. The defense needs to be good enough to make the big stops and force crucial turnovers. To be quite honest, they have done that in the majority of the games this season.

I am by no means saying this defense is top 10 in the league, but they have shown potential to be top 15. With the addition of Carlos Dunlap, they filled in one of the biggest holes up front. Dunlap has proven his worth to this team in just four games. Ever since the arrival of Dunlap, we have seen the defensive front get better each game. Most notably, against the Arizona Cardinals where Dunlap was able to seal the game with a sack on 4th and 10.

Dunlap adds veteran experience to a defensive line that is fairly young. With Jamal Adams being exceptional as a pass rusher, this Seattle defense will reach another element of success. We saw it in the second half of the Rams game, we saw it for four quarters against the Cardinals and Eagles, and we will continually see it for the remainder of this season.

Next. 5 takeaways from Seahawks week 12 victory. dark

Carlos Dunlap’s stat line for the month of November: 4.0 SACKs, 12 COMBO, 6 SOLO, 7 QB HITS, 5 TFL.
