Special Teams

A. . . Seattle Seahawks. SPECIAL TEAMS

The Seattle Seahawks special teams have been fantastic all year long. Punter Michael Dickson had another great game yesterday. He punted 5 times for a total of 242 yards. He pinned the Giants inside the 10 twice and allowed this Seattle team to win the field possession battle. Dickson’s nets yards per punt in week 13 was 40.4 because he had two touchbacks.

Kicker Jason Myers made his only field goal and extra point of the game. He has been quietly having a great year after a shaky performance last year. Myers has not missed any of his field goals this season which makes it even stranger that instead of trusting Myers for a 55-yard field goal in the second quarter with Seattle on the New York 37, they decided to punt.

While the Seahawks had no big kickoff return or punt return, they did block a punt. In the second quarter, defensive back Ryan Neal blocked a punt that rolled out of the end zone, which resulted in a safety. It actually took a nice bounce right into the hands of rookie HB Deejay Dallas, but he was unable to secure it. That could have been a game-altering play. But, nonetheless, another impressive day for the special teams unit.
