Seattle Seahawks destroy the New York Jets in week 14
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks defeated the Jets 40-3 in week 14
Ok, let’s be real. The New York Jets are awful. They have several first round draft picks in the next few years and they are so bad that even in those drafts at the end of so they will still be terrible. The Seahawks needed to destroy the Jets in week 14 and they did 40-3.
This was an easy game. In fact, it was so easy that Geno Smith replaced Russell Wilson late in the third quarter. This was nice. Very nice. And Wilson hasn’t left a game happily since FDR was President. (In other words, it’s been a while.)
To be fair, I am not sure this was a Seahawks domination as much as it was that the Jets are just amazingly awful. This should have been worse.
In the first half, the Seahawks dropped potential interceptions, Russell Wilson got picked on a bad decision to throw it deep and Jason Myers missed an extra point.
A win is a win
But let’s celebrate this win for what it is. The Seahawks needed to take out the trash and they did and they moved to 9-4. And for once, with an easy victory that Russ had helped cooked and helped baked by halftime.
Wilson finished 21 of 27 for 206 yards, four touchdowns and that one bad pick. His main receivers, D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, had a combined 113 yards and one touchdown.
Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde finished with a combined 141 yards rushing, though.
But individual stats don’t matter in this game. Seattle finished with 410 yards to the Jets 185. New York missed three field goals while the Seahawks Jason Myers made his two attempts.
Seattle did clearly more than enough to win. But the Jets just suck. Either way, it was nice that 12s finally had a game they could watch and know what the outcome would be early. Next week against the Washington Football Team will be tough. But this isn’t next week so we should sleep well and enjoy this victory. Seattle needed it.
