The story of the Seahawks last 8 years if they never drafted Russell Wilson
2017: Bridgewater’s long recovery leads to year two of Bradford, but injuries strike again and the defense is on the decline
In the 2017 draft, the Seahawks actually traded their first-round pick for more picks to the Falcons, but with no first-round pick because of the Bradford trade they do not draft Lano Hill in the third and Chris Carson in the 7th round, but they still sign Carson as a UDFA.
Bridgewater’s recovery now looks like it will take two years, and so Seattle declines his fifth-year option. They then head into the season with Bradford as the starting QB, but he suffers a knee injury that requires season-ending surgery.
Panicking trying to save a bad start to the season, they sign Robert Griffin III (who did not play at all in 2017 in real life). Austin Davis starts for a few weeks while Griffin learns the playbook but the RG3 signing is not enough to save the season and Seattle goes 6-10.
Seattle does not make the Duane Brown trade (which is big for the 2018 draft) and obviously also does not make the playoffs. The defense declines from one of the best in the league and is now old and mediocre, and with Richard Sherman heading into free agency and Kam Chancellor seriously injured it looks like the Legion of Boom is no longer.
