The Seahawks need their guys heading into the weekend

Just as we thought the Seahawks would be healthy for the playoffs, some unfortunate things occurred in Week 17. To begin, DT Jarran Reed suffered an injury late in the game against San Francisco. While he did not return to the game, the early indication is that he should be good to go next week.

The Seahawks will see how he progresses throughout the week and make a decision heading towards the weekend. But, it appears more likely than not that he will be suiting up. This defensive front needs Reed to be a presence against the aggressive rushing attack of the Rams. All pro safety Jamal Adams also suffered a shoulder injury in the win over the 49ers. If you remember, he missed most of October with a groin injury. When he returned, he injured one of his shoulders which was followed up by a couple of broken fingers. Despite the two injuries, he continued to play.

While his body language looked poor on the sidelines after injuring his shoulder, it seems that he will also give it a go on Saturday. Chances are Adams will not be 100%, but he has shown toughness in his first season with the Seahawks. This is also going to be his first playoff game so he will do his best to get out there.

In good news, the Seattle Seahawks are expecting some guys to return. For starters, CB Tre Flowers was just activated off the IR and will be good to go on Saturday against the Rams. D.J. Reed has been playing well and we should expect him to split the time with Flowers. In Week 16, D.J. Reed put forth a good effort in stopping the Rams wideouts in Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp.

Both offensive linemen Brandon Shell and Mike Iupati are expected to return in the Wild Card round. Both will be much needed as the Rams have one of the better defensive lines in the entire NFL. In fact, the key to this game will be if the offensive line is able to sufficiently protect Wilson. But, at least there is some good news heading into the weekend. Let’s hope Adams and Reed are able to get back out there and help this team win the football game.
